Kimberly Musial is a performing arts strategist, educator, and violist whose work sits at the intersection of music education, professional performance, and entrepreneurship. Through her ventures, she supports musicians, students, and educators in building meaningful and sustainable careers in the performing arts.
Kimberly began her musical studies at the age of eight. Since then, Kim and her viola have traveled the world, playing in a diverse selection of noted professional orchestras and music festivals at famed venues such as Carnegie Hall, NBC Studios and the Verizon Center, and under some of the world’s most renowned conductors like Kurt Masur, Andre Previn and John Rutter.
With this wide range of musical knowledge and experience, Kimberly built her company, Luminous Sounds into Long Island’s premier modern string quartet. She hand-selects highly skilled musicians who work exceptionally well together and who practice together regularly. Kimberly leads extensive rehearsals so that Luminous Sounds is perfectly prepared for every event, whether it’s an intimate dinner party, an idyllic wedding ceremony and cocktail hour, or a corporate event for hundreds of guests. Along with leading Luminous Sounds, Kimberly enjoys an active freelance career, which introduces her to new musicians who can help expand Luminous Sounds’ ever-growing repertoire. She presently works full-time as the Assistant Director of Orchestras at Mayde Creek High school (Katy ISD) and teaches private viola and violin lessons at her Houston-based studio. Kimberly strongly believes in introducing young people to string music, whether it’s through teaching lessons or performing modern popular music on strings with Luminous Sounds. In addition to teaching, Kim has a background in Educational Leadership. Prior to moving to Texas, Kim served as the Director of Fine and Performing Arts in the Huntington UFSD and also owns an active Educational Consulting firm, Ensemble Consulting Co. When not teaching, performing or working on her entrepreneurial pursuits, Kim can be found traveling and exploring as much as possible. Kim is regarded as a "foodie" which she balances with a strong love of weight training. In addition, she is a true dog enthusiast.
